Tokek or Gecko Lizard

Sad news for Geckos geeks and Geckos collectors out there.

Huh..... I have two Gecko lizard back home.. I wonder if it still alive or not? I bought this two Gecko lizard from a friend where he bought it from a friend from Kg Payas-Payas Kota Belud last year, May 2010 with cost of RM100 each. Last time I look at it... it was bigger than a cigarette box. I had been dreaming to sell it for 100k when I go back home later but unfortunately it was just a dream that cannot be full fill. My cousin are really crazy to hunt and find it for instant money. I have heard that, they have sold many of this so call Gecko lizard and make thousands RM from selling it. My father was the witness while the transaction happen. When I came across with my friend blog, telling that the advantages of Gecko Lizard for healing HIV and AIDS is not true my intention for keeping this lizard melt down to the ground. Maybe I will kept this lizard as pet or I will release it soon. To continue reading..... read the article below.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) posted a message on its Facebook page to remind people that reports stating Geckos can cure HIV, AID and cancer were not true.

WHO’s posting coincided with wildlife trade watchdog TRAFFIC’s call for the protection of the to’keh (or tokay) gecko, following a sharp increase in illegal smuggling of the lizard in Southeast Asia.

“We’d like to remind you that the gecko is not a cure for HIV/AIDS, or cancer.

“The rumour that says otherwise is a hoax,” the WHO message stated.

“There is no scientific evidence that gecko can cure HIV/AIDS or cancer.

“Nor is there information on the safety and hygiene consequences from exposure to geckos,” the health organisation said.

Malaysian Society for HIV Medicine immediate past president Dr Christopher Lee said: “We strongly advise people who are infected with HIV to continue with the anti-retroviral treatment provided free in government hospitals.

“This is because the anti-retroviral treatment is the only treatment that is proven to work so far in the four decades of the HIV epidemic,” he added.

TRAFFIC was quoted in The Star yesterday as saying that the demand for tokay geckos had skyrocketed recently due to unfounded claims on Asian websites and blogs that consuming the reptile’s tongue and internal organs could cure HIV and cancer.

Living here at Johor Bahru make me feel far from home but right now I'm counting day to leave this place. I wonder if there is a changes happening at Tamparuli now. People may say that the distance between Peninsular of Malaysia is not far form Sabah but for me.... huh it really hurt when far from home. Although I had gain a lot of expereince here but there is nothing sweet compare back home. I'm longing my family and really feel impatient to meet them soon.

For this time around, I did not have anything to write just an expression for myself and for my fanatic reader. For single day alone, this blog tends to bring a lot of reader around the globe. They have send me many e-mails to write about any issue happening inside Malaysia and mostly about politic issue but I cannot full fill their need because my blog objective is to tell about my hometown of Tamparuli Sabah. Although I had wrote many issue beyond the objective of this blog but for me to write a political issue was really hard, require fact point and time consuming for me. My guts was not enough to write this so call political issue. For sharing with you all, I had a chit chat with a friend where we "Talk Rubbish" about the political scenario happening inside Malaysia. He said to me, " Why should we involve in Politic?" without politic we can survive he said. That was totally wrong.............. without good stability of Politic here in Malaysia, we cannot leave in peace... can you do your daily routine when people are shooting with each other? Huh give a minute to think my dear reader. Stop..... no need to think anymore.. next time I will wrote an article about politic for my next article.

Sabahan Women NGOs and Women Organization

Women in Sabah now days were different compare with 15 years ago. Women in Sabah were equal with men in term of status and so forth. Women can do everything even the hardest thing which the men used to do it. Have you ever came across with women organization in Sabah? well there are more than 20 women registered organization in Sabah alone (Do leave your comment if this fact is not true) and we as the people of Sabah should support this so call women organization. I have heard a lot of organization and NGOs in Sabah and been waiting for a registered women organization here at Tamparuli. Can you imagine if there is more than five women organization here at Tamparuli? We have to make a different and now is the perfect time for the Tamparulian women to develop one single women organization to protect the women right here. Although there is no serious cases happen here regarding to women affair but at least we must ready for up coming consequences. I have paste an article form Daily Express Online for further reading. last but not least Women and Men are equal, respect are the main objective to make this relation last forever. All the best for Sabahan Women.

Adapted from Daily Express Online: 6 Nov 2011
Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman wants women's organisations to learn from their rural counterparts.

He said it was pertinent for them to find out from women's groups in rural areas what their hopes and aspirations were, and to also learn from the latter.

"Do not dismiss the wealth of knowledge that women in rural areas have in the areas of sustainable farming, craft making, culture and other skills and experiences that have been passed down to them for generations.

"In fact, some of the traditional economic activities carried out by rural women can be adapted to suit the way we do things in urban areas, especially at a time when there is persistent push for the world to be more sustainable in the way we use our natural resources," he said in his address at the Sabah Women Entrepreneurs & Professionals Association (Swepa) Installation Banquet 2011 held at Magellan Sutera Hotel, here, Friday.

The text of his speech was read by Deputy Chief Minister cum Minister of Resource Development & Information Technology, Datuk Dr Yee Moh Chai.

Musa also encouraged Swepa and other women's organisations to introduce new outreach programmes, consistent with changing times.

"With the feedback you have received over the years, I am sure you are able to design programmes that benefit a wider circle of women."

The CM said the State Government continues to enjoy a close working relationship with Swepa members.

"I will not hesitate to describe them as dynamic women," he remarked.

On Swepa's vision of having more women in leadership roles, especially in spurring the economy, Musa noted that this was in line with the State's target of seeing 30 per cent women's participation in the decision-making process, and an increase in the number of capable leaders who can occupy positions at the highest management level in public-listed companies.

At this juncture, he encouraged women keen to take on leadership roles to learn from experienced members in Swepa.

"There are a number of highly qualified women who have served both the public and private sectors. I am sure they are more than willing to share their knowledge and experiences with the younger generation.

Learn from these women, who have been through challenges in their respective fields and emerged stronger after overcoming obstacles."

Businesswoman Hanaa Wong Abdullah was duly installed as the ninth President of Swepa by outgoing President Datuk Adeline Leong.

It was witnessed by Founder President Datuk Nancy Ho and Past Presidents like Fatimah Yassin, Doris Lim and Dolly Jimayol.

Hanaa described her predecessor Adeline as a mentor who showed her the ropes of how to lead a team and get the members to function effectively.

She said Swepa's tagline of "Women Helping Women" was first coined by Adeline. "In the next two years, we are going to focus on this together with our vision of putting women in the economic forefront of the State and Nation."

Towards this end, prompted by the success of the Wellness Conference 2011, the new executive committee will organise the Wellness Conference 2 in 2013 for the benefit of the community.

Hanaa said Swepa was in discussion with Global Warisan Sdn Bhd's CEO, Dash Dakshinamoorthy, on Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) towards reaching out to more rural women to enhance entrepreneurship development.

She also pledged to continue working with the Sabah Women's Advisory Council (MPWS) and its implementing agency, Sabah Women's Affairs Department (Jhewa) in their programmes to boost the socio-economic status of women in Sabah. "Again it's women helping women," she said.

At the Haute Couture Extravaganza, the latest collections of Malaysia's veteran fashion designer and fashion choreographer, Albert King, and Sabah's very own batik fashion designer, Ashniza Saidun, captivated the 820-strong audience. Other entertainers were stand-up comedian Douglas Lim and musical duo Roger Wang, a solo acoustic guitarist, and Angelina Perete, a songwriter, composer and vocalist.

Differences between pupils in Pennisular of Malaysia and Sabah

It's hardly to explain the differences between pupils in Peninsular of Malaysia and Sabah. I wrote this article because of one of my friend suggested me to do it. He also a Tamparulian and taking the same course with me here at Institut Perguruan (Teacher Institute) Johor Bahru. We have talked a lot  about the differences between the pupils here at Johor and Sabah. I was surprise when he told me  about his pupils at SK Kg Maju Jaya Johor Bahru which I will not reveal. Based from my experience doing practical training here, I have learnt that the most apparent cause was the way of thinking. This maybe affected by the mind set of their family way of thinking. As for Sabahan I know that the way of thinking for Sabahan is simple and the end result of any decision was also simple. People here are more to critical thinking wheres it maybe affected by the surrounding scenario and tough way of living. I have tought these pupils and they seem to understand with any type of problem discussed regrading to daily life. I felt a little bit envy with the pupils ability of thinking because I never experienced it during when I was same age with them. Imagine that Sabahan pupils also in the same condition with them. Perhaps our Sabahan pupils will it achieved soon...

There are more differences but for this article I just want to focus on the way of thinking only. Can you imagine a ten years old pupils can think like a teenagers age between 15 to 18 years old? For those teacher who have been or having experiences teaching here at Johor they are familiar with this scenario. I'm not blaming the Sabahan pupils are lack of knowledge and a little bit behind times wheres it will effect they way of thinking but at least they can improve they way of thinking with the help from their family by adapting new idea and mind set. There are more than 145 primary school in Sabah and mostly the school location is in the rural area and the mind set of people there were very limited. I have been dreaming of having good pupils where can suit all the lesson planned for them by the Ministry Of Education (Malaysia). I have to change and create something new for suitability for my future pupils in Sabah.

Issue can be solved and here I have suggested one opinion to reduce the gap between pupils in Pennisular of Malaysia and Sabah. The main problem is the surrounding scenario and to tackle this we as a teacher need to expose this pupils to the current situation. We have to inject more knowledge to them by picking good information only. School is for education and teacher is the driver to guide the pupils to the right track. Teacher must help the pupils to get knowledgeable information. The main point is expose the current situation so that we can change the pupils ability to think outside the comfort zone. This opinion is for pupils in Sabah and for the Pennisular Pupils all we have to do is to strengthen them with moral value inserted to they way of thinking. The way of thinking was the major differences between pupils in Peninsular of Malaysia and Sabah. Till then all the best for teacher and happy weekend.
