All the peoples of Sabah are welcome to visit the place and hopefully this programs run safely and smoothly. Continue below articles...

Kuala Penyu district, famous for its traditional dish "ambuyat" (gluey porridge made from sago starch), has been selected as the host for this year's launch of the state-level Kaamatan Festival celebration on May 1.

Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan in announcing this, said the festival themed, "Love for Culture Spawns Caring Community" would be held at Dewan Shahbandar Makang and was expected to be opened by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman. "Kuala Penyu has already achieved 80 per cent in its preparations for the celebration. Preparations for the district-level celebration have also begun, with Putatan the first district to organised the festival on May 5," he said, after chairing the committee meeting, Tuesday.

Pairin who is Sabah State Kaamatan Festival Celebration Main Committee Chairman, said the theme this year was appropriate in fostering unity as Sabah was a role model for the 1Malaysia concept with regard to multiracial unity. Pairin who is also president of the Kadazandusun Cultural Association, said the climax of the state-level celebration would be at Penampang KDCA Hongkod Koisaan on May 30 and 31.

Apart from traditional sporting events, Unduk Ngadau (beauty contest) and Sugandoi (singing competition), the festival will also highlight the culture of the seven sub-ethnic groups of Kadazandusun by Sabah Museum," he said.

2012 Pesta Kaamatan at Kuala Penyu

There will be a grand opening for Harvest Festival in 2012 at Kuala Penyu Sabah. Harvest Festival is a celebration where it celebrated by the Kadazans, Muruts and Dusuns people in Sabah. It was a major festival that was being celebrated yearly by the Sabahan. There are many festival celebrated by the Sabahan but Harvest Festival or Pesta Kaamatan was the famous one. I'm a Dusuns ethnic and my ethnic has been celebrating it hundreds years ago. This so-called Pesta Kaamatan is a ritual celebration to commemorate and to celebrate the hardness after finishing the harvest season in Sabah. Among the activity conducted during the celebration, the " Unduk Ngadau" was the favorite one. Last year, our beauty contestant Miss Jovenea Jim Lajim got second runner-up during the state level competition.

This year, Kuala Penyu will be hosting the so-called Pesta Kaamatan celebration. If you travel from Kota Kinabalu to Kuala Penyu, it will take nearly three hours to reach there by land transports. Kuala Penyu was near to WP Labuan. Kuala Penyu was a small town but it will be a new place to be visited when it introduce to global when this festival launched. The local at Kuala Penyu was Dusuns Tatana ethnic and they have been living there since hundreds years ago. If we look at our history, Kuala Penyu was once the territory of The Sultanate Of Brunei before being occupied by the North Borneo British Company. Kuala Penyu will be famous when this grand opening launched early May 2012. Hopefully you all can visited Kuala Penyu for this Grand Opening Celebration.

The celebration was a festival where a lot of Sabahan ethnic gather together to celebrate the memorable ceremony. Our Head Of State will be the one who officially launched it. Together with the Chief Minister Of Sabah, Datuk Seri Musa Aman and our Huguon Siou Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan will officiate the Grand Opening ceremony. One suggestion for the people of Kuala Penyu, please provide lodging for the tourist who will be visiting there soon. Kuala Penyu Homestay will be fully-booked I supposed so and perhaps for the tourist who planning to stay one night or more it is advisable you book your lodging now. Last but not least, Happy Visiting Sabah and GOD Bless the Sabahan. Hail The Pesta Kaamatan 2012.
