Pekan Nabalu located 40km from Tamparuli Town and 32km from Ranau town.It will take one hour from the city of Kota Kinabalu by land transport but depends on traffic condition. It is a beautiful place where you can see the Mount Kinabalu, trees, birds and so forth from there. Tourist from all over the globe like to stop and take picture here and buy souvenir for their love one back to their home.
Local people the Dusun tribe is living around this area and trading their local produce. This is a regular tourist pit stop where a variety of good quality handicrafts can be purchased as well as the deliciously nutty flavored brown hill rice specialty from the area, together with extra sweet pineapples.
All the tourist can enjoy the Tamu for Pekan Nabalu every Thursday morning starting from 6.00am till 2.00pm in the afternoon. The price of all the local produce can be bargain and the price is affordable. Tourist will satisfy with the good sell and surely they will visit it again and again. Mostly the local sell vegetable, fruit and traditional costume for the visitor.
Pekan Nabalu still under the jurisdiction of District council of Tamparuli and all the building are belong to Majlis Daerah Tuaran. For all folks out there don't forget to stop by at this town when you make your trip to Ranau or Sandakan. Enjoy....guys
