The tournament, which was held at the Tamparuli Futsal Centre on April 10 and 17, also had a plate event, which featured S.R.A.T. FT and SK Wongkod in the final.

S.R.A.T FT won the challenge, 2-1.

The Girls final on the other hand was dominated by SK Nongkolud.

They beat SK Bawang Tamparuli 2-0, while SK Wongkod and SK Bantayan finished in joint third place. A total of 32 teams took part in the tournament, which was organised by the Sabah Sports Board (SSB).

It was held under the cooperation of the State Education Department, Sabah Sports Council, Sabah Football Association, Tamparuli District Office, Tamparuli Assemblyman and Tuaran Parliament Liaison Offices.

Tamparuli Assistant District Officer, Celestinus Lawanding, who represented Tuaran Member of Parliament, Datuk Seri Wilfred Bumburing, presented the prizes to the winners.

Also present were SSB General Manager, Mahmood Kalong, Sabah Women's Football Association President, Datin Malianah Ugau Encik, Denis Gimpah from the Tuaran Parliament Liaison Office, SSB Board Members, Yap Kok Shing and Romeo Sindeh and SSB Sports Manager, Terrance Edward Pudin.

Terrence, meanwhile, announced that the next SSB Under-12 sports programme would be held in Sandakan.

"SSB is organising a Badminton Under-12 and Under-10 Carnival, which would be held at the Sandakan Sports Complex Multi-Purpose Hall on May 14 and 15, this year.

"We held the same programme here recently and the response was overwhelming. We hope the Sandakan communities would send their children for this event to make it similarly successful," he said.

For the record more than 700 pupils took part in the Kota Kinabalu U-12 and U-10 Badminton Carnival in Kota Kinabalu earlier, this year.
