13th April 2007: Tan Sri Chong Kah Kiat resigns as minister and Deputy Chief Minister
1999: Yahya Lampong leaves Umno to join Bersekutu, then rejoins Umno, all within a very short time
27 Dec 1996: 200 die in storm (Greg)
1995: Daily Express’ world exclusive: Barings Bank broker Nick Leeson fled Singapore via Sabah, even stayed at the Shangri-La Tanjung Aru Resort. If you didn’t know, Leeson is the original Rogue Trader who was responsible for the biggest financial scandal of the 20th century – the collapse of Barings, the personal bank of The Queen, and which had funded the Napoleonic Wars.
1994: 3 weeks after being sworn in as the Chief Minister of Sabah, Tan Sri Pairin was forced to resign after many PBS Assemblymen quit the party, leaving PBS with only a few assemblymen. Some assemblymen were quoted to have said “I will never leave PBS” in the local papers, but subsequently left.
