Nigeria Church Bombing, No Malaysian Hurts

|

Foreign Minister Datuk Anifah Aman confirmed that no Malaysians were affected in the bombing of two churches in Nigeria on Christmas Day.

"Upon receiving the tragic news, we were worried about the safety of our countrymen there.

"Due to time differences, I only received a report from our embassy in Nigeria this morning (Wednesday) stating no Malaysians were affected by the bombing incident.

"Nonetheless, we are working closely with the Nigerian government departments and agencies to receive any latest developments in regards to Malaysians there," Anifah said.

Anifah, who is also Kimanis MP, said this to Daily Express after presenting agriculture infrastructure, water tanks and canopies to recipients at Kg.Babagon Baru in Mandahan area, near here on Wednesday.

He said there were not many Malaysians in Nigeria.

He said the government has condemned the tragedy that claimed the lives of at least 40 people celebrating Christmas inside the churches.

He added that Malaysia has also extended its condolences and sympathies to the bereaved families and those who were injured.
