April 11, 2012 a holiday in Sabah

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman said after chairing the weekly Cabinet meeting, Wednesday, that it was only proper for Sabah to similarly declare April 11 as a public holiday to mark the occasion.

Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Mohd Sidek Hassan had last month declared that the installation day would be made a public holiday for peninsular Malaysia and the Federal Territory of Labuan.

"Sabah and Sarawak will do the necessary in accordance with their respective state laws," Sidek said.

In another development, Musa said the allowance for the Chinese community chiefs in the state would be increased from RM450 to RM650, effective last Jan 1. The last time the allowance was raised was five years ago from RM230 to RM450.
