PBS: To Maintain Political Stability In Sabah.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak's pronouncement that he and Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman are working closely to develop the State has put to rest propaganda that there were differences between the two top leaders. Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) Information Chief Datuk Johnny Mositun, in welcoming the statement, said those who harboured hope of seeing the leadership split should now reconcile and join forces in fostering greater unity in developing the State and nation for the benefit of the people.

"It is important to maintain political stability in Sabah for us to forge ahead, reaping more project funding to enhance infrastructure development that entail transformation in the State's social and economic landscape," he said.

He said the people were just beginning to experience profound changes introduced by the Federal Government under the leadership of Najib through the many innovations such as Government Transformation Programme (GTP) in the public services, Economic Transformation Programme (ETP) in partnership with private sector and Political Transformation Programme (PTP) in reviewing the critical laws and regulations in conjunction with norms of time and statutory protection of citizen rights.

"We applaud the resolve taken for the first time and under the present Federal Government that areas and objectivity of transformation under these programmes are quantitatively and qualitatively determined - tagged as the National Key Result Areas (NKRA) for GTP and National Key Economic Areas (NKEA) for the ETP," he said. He said public and ministerial implementers were now put on their toes because all issues and matters for development are strategically monitored on timeline basis and evaluation on achievement and performance to the NKRA and NKEA are reflected through the Key Performance Indicators (KPI).

Mositun, who is also a Deputy Speaker, said the Political Transformation Programme had also seen review and enhancement of Acts of Parliament. He added that the activation of Select Committees to look into electoral reform, matters related to Illegal Immigrants in Sabah and the Lynas controversy was evident of the Government's readiness to listen and act.

"Since the BN government has clear vision with a specific agenda and road map to bring development to its people in order to achieve a high income Malaysia and is embarking on a journey to realise this aspiration under the initiatives, it is incumbent, therefore, that the people of Sabah stay united and be confident with the Federal leadership of Najib and State leadership of Musa for a better Malaysia," he said. In addition, he said PBS under the stewardship of Huguan Siou Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan would always stand by its founding objective, namely, to ensure that Sabah remains the State where Chinese, Kadazandusun, the Muslim and other minority communities live under the security of social justice, prosperity and fair distribution of jobs, economy and business opportunities. "Sabah cannot afford to go through another drastic political change and the political past should be enough a lesson learnt," he said.
