A bad luck for mykad owner...

A local man, Francis Sopoyut, has had enough with the red tape faced by him in getting his MyKad.

The problem of the 48-year-old man from Kampung Napitas, Tenghilan started when he wanted to change his old blue IC to the high quality IC about 10 years ago.

He was told then that the National Registration Department could not process his application because one of his fingerprints did not match the one in his blue IC.

He was asked to lodge a police report that he had lost his IC. He complied because he wanted to get his new IC quickly.

But, until now, nothing has happened.

"I have all the documents but still they could not process it because of my fingerprint," he said, adding that it had caused him a lot of problems, including opening bank accounts and managing his children's schooling.

"I have been waiting for so long and I am now at a loss, I don't know what to do anymore," he said.

Red MyKad

Former Dalit Village Security and Development Committee Chairman, Justin Emran, wants an explanation as to why he was issued a red MyKad when he went to change his old one recently. "I went to have my old IC changed, but I am shocked to find that they gave me a red one.

"Am I worse than a foreigner? Because from what I observed, the foreigners in Keningau could get their MyKad in just three months," he claimed.

"What surprises me more is that it is written 'originally from Malaysia', but why a red MyKad?" he asked.

Justin also claimed that about 10,000 foreigners now have their own MyKads.

"I hope the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission will investigate this," he said.

He also hoped Pensiangan Member of Parliament Tan Sri Joseph Kurup as well as Sook Assemblyman Datuk Ellron Alfred Angin will take note of this issue and come up with a solution.
