25 years ago... I still can remember my father word saying that " Ada Bom Meletup Di KK " whereby I quickly thought that there will be a bloodshed in Sabah. This tragedy only lasted for two month. With the help from the Police all the bad thing were successfully stop without a single life lost. After a quick research and do some reading, I have found out that 5 people are dead because of this incident and the paper did not reveal the real story back 25 years ago.. Somebody has concealed the story either for safety of the public or other purpose. We must learn from the past so that we can create a better world for our next generation. People may do make mistake and people also can learn from mistake. During that time, It is a havoc situation whereby I can remember that my relative are concentrating to increase our village protection Since my village is located near the town of Tamparuli and the distant to Kota Kinabalu only 36km away which consider really near, my family take high precaution for the safety of our family members.
Tamparuli is a PBS area and the former Berjaya Party lost here. I can remember that Tamparuli had a lot of PBS supporter during that time and they were not worried about the cheap and dangerous publicity made by the former ruling party in Sabah. I'm really happy to look at all my relative, neighbor and villager united together to stand against the corrupted party. By the way I'm only 8 years old during that time. 1986 Sabah riots
The 1986 Sabah riots occurred between March and May in various locations around the state of Sabah, Malaysia. The riots centered mainly in the capital Kota Kinabalu, as well as in the towns of Tawau and Sandakan. On March 12, seven plastic explosives were detonated in Kota Kinabalu. A bomb was also detonated in Tawau. The riots resulted in the death of 5 people.
The riots occurred in response to the results of the 1985 state election, whereby the newly formed Parti Bersatu Sabah (United Sabah Party) won, ousting Parti Berjaya from the helm of government. Berjaya was the previous ruling party and a component party of Barisan Nasional (BN), the nation's and federal ruling coalition party. It was reported that mobs took to the streets to bring down the president of PBS Pairin Kitingan from the Chief Minister post.
It was also suspected that the riots were triggered by the losing parties including BN to bring forth a proclamation of emergency in order to justify a takeover by the federal government similar to those which happened in 1966 in Sarawak and 1977 in Kelantan.
PBS later sought to have snap election because of political manoeuvering causing PBS representatives to defect.[5] Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamed also tried to negotiate with PBS to form a coalition with BN in return for peace in the state. Finally the election was held on 4 and 5 May, 1986. PBS won again and this time with a bigger margin.

Tamparuli is a small town and a sub-district of Tuaran on the west coast of Sabah, Malaysia. It is populated mainly by native Dusuns, while a sizeable Chinese community runs most of the shops in the town proper. As with many other small towns in Sabah and indeed Malaysia as a whole, the town itself consists of both newer concrete shoplots as well as old wooden ones, which are particularly prone to destruction by fire as evidenced in the destruction of one of the wooden shoplots in recent years.
