KR1M - Open June In Sabah and Sarawak

|

The 1Malaysia People's Shops (KR1M) will be opened in Sabah and Sarawak by June, Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said.

He said the number of the shops to be opened, however, has yet to be finalised, but they would definitely be built in major towns of the two states.

"We are now in the midst of studying every aspect of the plan, including the cost of transportation because we don't want the price of goods sold at KR1M in Sabah and Sarawak to be very costly as compared to the KR1M in the peninsula."

He said this to reporters after listening to briefings on Kalabakan Umno's preparation for the next general election, here, Friday.

Nevertheless, he said the ministry could not give any assurance that the people in Sabah and Sarawak would enjoy the same price enjoyed by the consumers in the peninsula.

Ismail Sabri said in a bid to reduce the cost of transportation, the ministry would also try to identify and convene a meeting with local small and medium industry players who could supply their products to the shops.

He said if certain products were already available in the two states, the price would definitely be cheaper.
